To run a 10k course through the beautiful Haw Park Wood. The start and finish is at the Car park which serves the wood, Anglers Country Park and the Waterton Visitor Centre. The trails are all good, as long as you stay on the course! You can run by yourself or as a team (maximum 4 people) and the use of headphones, sat navs, compasses, Garmins or whatever is permitted. There is no overnight camping in the woods so you must get back before darkness falls. You may come across wildlife but only the human ones are of any danger. There won't be any course marshals or direction signs - its you against nature!
We don't expect you to find your way without assistance - all runners/teams will receive detailed directions in an easy to read format - a piece of paper! They are guaranteed to be at least 90% accurate. We will even point you in the right direction at the start.
There is a small charge for this help - a £3 donation to Sarah's fundraising - that's just 30p per kilometre - some of you may lower this unit cost by doing a longer distance if you take a wrong turn. Just pay on the night to receive you directions.
If we can identify any winners they may receive a prize - we've just got to work out how we do this.
A laugh or two on the way round
A chance to make long term friendships - especially if you get lost
Possibility of free food (weather permitting)
Raising much needed money for the Hospice
The car park is located along Haw Park Lane Wintersett - follow the brown direction signs (Haw Park Wood / Anglers Country Park / Waterton Discovery Centre / The Heronry (there's a mixture of signs).
