Good venue with the Sports Centre facilities right on hand and food available afterwards. It's a decent cross country course with mixed terrain and a leap across water (twice). A longish climb across a ploughed muddy field managed to drain energy and those without studded shoes (Charlie excepted) would have found it even more difficult.
What's always good at the end of one of these runs is that no matter what the conditions or course, everyone enjoys it. Those who haven't done one yet - make diary space for the last in the series on 6th March.
Once again , Karen Ball and Victoria Burrows-Bilton were right up there amongst the leaders and once again finishing positions were reversed with Victoria in 3rd spot and Karen in 5th. Excellent support from our other ladies enabled the team to finish 3rd (up 2 from last time) and climb back to 3rd spot in the league, albeit on countback. Well done to Maria McDonald-Leach who continued her improvement with her best score in the series. A good turnout in the last race by our ladies could see us clinch 3rd spot in the top league, a brilliant result after last year's promotion.
3rd Victoria Burrows-Bilton
5th Karen Ball
42nd Rachel Cooke
64th Maria McDonald- Leach
70th Gail Wrangles
75th Ann Rhodes
We finished in 7th spot in this combined league of 17 teams but remain firmly in 3rd spot overall having had the last race results amended due to having Jenni Dews put into the vets category (sorry Jenni, but when ladies reach 35 they become vets).
8th Charlie Lines
36th Aiden Ball
45th Steve Wigglesworth
65th Craig Tipton
75th Peter Grimoldy
105th Adrian Leach
133rd Martyn Stearn
141st Chris Taylor
150th Roy Young
153rd Paul Zywicki
161st Ian Hill
178th Stewart Haigh
182nd Barry Sinar
196th Andrew Nuut
198th Jeff Denton
199th Brian Dodd
201st John Bell
This was the largest men's field so far in the series and luckily we had a strong turnout of 17, lead by Charlie Lines. The team managed an excellent 2nd spot and it is not beyond possibility that we could gain a first spot in the last event.
Unfortunately for us the winning team was Bradford Airedale who as a result push us into 3rd spot on the league. We still have the edge on them on count-back and therefore we could regain second spot if the results go right at the last race.
Karen and Victoria remain proudly at the top of the league with just 0.1 of a point between them! All to race for in the last event. Rachel moves up one spot to 18th, although down to 3rd in her category.
Steve Wigglesworth is our highest place man in 13th spot and 3rd in his age category.
Another good result finishing in 3rd spot (we will be when the results are changed to include Charlie). We move up to 3rd spot in the series.
