The men's team were 3rd with not too many points between 2nd and 4th spots. After 2 races we remain in 2nd spot. They were again led home by Charlie Lines in 7th spot with Steve Wigglesworth finishing 26th. Craig Tipton made his first appearance for the club and Ron Dyson ran his first cross country since his school days. Both appeared to enjoy the experience. Good to see Peter Grimoldy back out again.
The ladies team finished 4th, just 15 points behind Kirkstall but retain 3rd place overall after 2 races, just ahead of Kirkstall. There were sparkling performances again with Karen and Victoria taking 2nd and 3rd spot - what a great foundation to build upon. The remainder of the team gave super support and welcome to Maria McDonald-Leach who ran her ear muffs off in her first race with the club.
There was a distinct contrast to the weather at the first race, however the enthusism of cross countriers was undimished and there was a great turnout with 20 brave athletes from Ackworth. The course was a mixture of grass and undulating woodland trails with just one steep climb up an icy bank. The light snow cover made for attractive scenery and not too much of a problem for xc running - everyone kept on their feet - and had to keep running to keep warm.
