As declared on the night by our hosts -
Ian Vogan who was only 11 seconds outside his handicap time, just pipping Emma Smith who was 8 seconds over her time!
Even more pipped was Alan Tattersall who must have had a time penalty for his sun tan, as he was 18 seconds under his handicap time. On a better night, Ken Barton could have won with his achievement of being 2 min 21 seconds under his expected time. Ken must have been penalised for not finishing the Wakefield 10k. Both Alan and Ken were rewarded, however, with raffle wins.
There was a stewards' enquiry afterwards at which our Chairman declared in favour of Ian for no logical reason other than it was almost dark anyway when everyone finished!
There was a great turnout on a cold, windy evening with 21 runners from Goole and 19 plus a spectator from Ackworth. This year, Goole had first man and first woman - makes a pleasant change! It was tough going in places along the riverbank, but everyone enjoyed the event, especially those for whom it was there first visit to Goole.
As usual, the food was first class - we will have to ensure that we match this - and the hospitality at the return fixture.
A few photos from the night - but conditions weren't great for our frozen photographer, limping about in the mud.
